Embracing Life’s Transitions Exhibit Opening Ceremony (Feb. 9, 2025)

On Feb. 9 we had our Embracing Life’s Transitions Art Exhibit opening and awarding ceremony. This was an online competition for migrant domestic workers (MDW) in Hong Kong to share their personal journey through art, video, photo, and poetry. Winners’ and finalists’ works are now on display at G/F The Center at 99 Queen’s Rd Central until Feb. 22 (Open daily 9am to 6pm).
The MDWs works are so heartfelt and beautiful but what’s even more amazing was learning their stories of difficulty and overcoming these challenges. Evelyn found peace to conquer loneliness through meditation and yoga. Johnna used her talent in art to earn money and even improve her relationship with her employer. Bing taught herself how to paint from materials given to her by her employer. Naseha used photography to heal and find herself after her divorce and mother’s death.

This exhibit also sparks conversation about the importance of mental health needs of MDWs in Hong Kong. We are so happy seeing many members of the public viewing the works, one of which even said, “(They) are so important in Hong Kong,” and we couldn’t agree more. MDWs are vital members of HK society and talking more about their experiences can pave the way towards mental health awareness and social inclusion.

We sincerely invite you to drop by the exhibit and learn the stories of these amazing MDWs! You can also view their works on our website. Special thanks to the support of Mental Health Initatives Funding Scheme Phase 2 of Health Bureau, Urban Renewal Authority and H6 CONET. Thank you to Nathalia Widjaja from Peduli Kasih HK. Shout out also to our friends from EmpowerU, Enrich HK, PathFinders for Migrant Workers, Migrant Bakehouse HK, Mission For Migrant Workers, Body Banter, TheM -Translate for Her: community information for ethnic minority women

We welcomed another batch of Dream Catcher Training graduates last Dec. 8, 2025! 🥳Congratulations to all the peer leaders who have expanded their knowledge on domestic worker rights, mental health, peer support, caregiving, and communication. 🥰We hope this marks only the beginning of your contribution to the community.
Special thanks to Mental Health Initiatives Funding Scheme Phase II for your support. Thank you also to our dedicated team members and student helpers for your hardwork!

Empowering Goals and Dreams (Sep. 15, 2024)

Who says goal setting and envisioning our future can’t be creative? Yesterday, our participants engaged in our Tree of Life activity to check in where we came from, where we are now, and where we want to be in the future. It was a truly empowering moment because we see a snapshot of our roots and how they cultivated our skills and values to help us reach our dreams. We also recognize the influential people are in our lives and what legacy we want to leave behind. Most of all, doing this activity together helped encourage our participants to support one another as we go through this journey.
Thank you EmpowerU for inviting us again this term! And shout out to all our wonderful participants.

Art Therapy for Stress Management (Sep. 22, 2024)

On September 22, Inna from MDW Recharge Hub was invited at the Philippine Consulate MWO-OWWA to deliver Art as Therapy for Stress Management. The participants danced, drew, and wrote about their relaxing spaces and found inner resources to continue to stay strong and resilient despite the challenges of being migrant workers.

Women’s Health Fair (Sep. 8, 2024)

On Sept. 8, we had the Women’s Health Fair co-organized with PathFinders for Migrant Workers. Mental health is an integral part of our overall health and well-being. In this event, we co-facilitated a workshop with Body Banter to highlight how we can take charge of our own narratives and our well-being. Participants reflected on their Wheel of Life. Since we all have unique experiences and goals, it’s good to take a step back every now and then and reflect where we’re at in our journey so that we can move forward with intention.

We hope that through this event our migrant domestic workers learned more about different aspects of women’s health–from menstrual health, sexual and reproductive health, pregnancy and menopause, women-specific cancers, and mental health.

Special thanks to our lovely partners: Peduli Kasih HK, Free Periods HK, Phenomenally Pink, LUÜNA, Body Banter, Mission for Ethnic Minorities’ Sexual Health, Online Courses By Uplifters, Social Justice for Migrant Workers – Hong Kong.
