Leaving as a Migrant Returning as a Bachelor
I migrated to Hong Kong to improve the family’s economy. I worked hard with enthusiasm for a much better future. Previously, I was a poor, uneducated person so I can only work as a housemaid. Thank God, my boss is kind and the work is light so I can continue studying at the Open University. Between my busy schedule as a domestic worker, after I finish work, I use my rest time to worship, communicate with my family and study before going to bed, not letting important college assignments disrupt work. I work diligently and enthusiastically. Every weekend I fill my holidays with positive activities such as sports, studying computer courses and English. Going to college has been my dream since I was little. Now I have an opportunity so I studied until I graduated. Hopefully the knowledge will be useful for myself, my family and others. I went through ups and downs and so that my mental health is well maintained, I joined a community that could support me. I often exercise and do yoga, and have lots of good friends. This is what makes me comfortable working in Hong Kong.
