Diversity by Rosalie Dulay Razon
About the Artist: Rosalie Dulay Razon is a self-taught artist and overseas Filipino worker (OFW) working in Hong Kong for the past 10 years. She continues the legacy of her artist father, Ricardo Dulay. She started to paint in 2014 as her therapy for being busy and tired after each day working abroad. She believes "DETERMINATION is a key to SUCESS", and continues the struggle to improve her skills and create her own style of art, which gives her a platform for expressing her ideas, and allows her to interact with like-minded artists. She has joined different social media art pages, and has participated in competitions like ART Challenge Contest. She also had an Exhibit together with some of her Kasining to enhance herself in the world of Art. She is a member of "GUHIT KULAY" in Hong Kong, a group of OFW's who promote their different skills, talent, and abilities together. They often hold free art jam sessions for those who are interested in developing their art skills. Her mantra: "ART is my passion, my style, my personality. I believe that ART has no boundaries, no rules, and no limitations. It is a unique spontaneous flow of an ARTIST."
About the Painting: Mental health is an important aspect of diversity that is often overlooked or stigmatized. Just like race, gender, sexual orientation and other aspects of diversity, mental health is an integral part of our identity that shapes how we experience the world and interact with others. A group of different people in the same place, the multiplicity that we find opportunity for learning and practicing different skills like emotional intelligence and understanding. Depression, anxiety and stress--those problems are part of a very important issue that we need to solve immediately. My painting DIVERSITY represents "PAGKAKA IBA - IBA" or UNLIKENESS of each other. We suffer different problems, situations or difficulties in life. Bubbles pop out representing PROBLEMS, TRIALS, ANXIETY, DEPRESSION but suddenly disappear after you overcome all of this. Flowers represent the peaceful mind and thoughts which refreshes our mind into a beautiful you after conquering everything in our life. The importance of diversity is intrinsic to our daily lives.
