Dream Catcher Online Training
The Dream Catcher Training aims to empower migrant domestic worker (MDW) peer leaders with a goal to improve all MDWs’ mental health.
Specifically, by completing the training, the dream catchers are expected to:
1) understand fundamental knowledge about mental health, self-care, and how to help others with basic mental health issues;
2) apply the knowledge learned to care for their own and others’ mental health;
3) navigate the internet to identify relevant and credible information to promote mental health;
4) develop peer leadership and organize creative activities to promote MDWs’ mental health.
Interested MDWs are encouraged to attend the training face-to-face to enjoy more interpersonal interactions. Nonetheless, if the face-to-face training does not match your schedule, you can alternatively attend some sessions online.
The online training includes 4 courses on (1)Knowing your Rights & Peer Leadership, (2)Arts for Wellness, (3)Mental Health, and (4)Self-Care.

Course List

Emotional Peer Support Through Texting
This course provides a brief introduction to providing emotional peer support to others through texting/chatting. This is an intro course for those who may want to volunteer and be a responder on our hotline and give emotional support to fellow migrant domestic workers who need help.

Self-Care
This course emphasizes the importance of self-awareness, emotional awareness, setting boundaries, and building resilience. Introducing self-awareness through concepts such as the Johari's Window model, teaching techniques for managing emotions such as anger and sadness, and strategies for recognizing and coping with emotional blackmail, this session provides guidance on how to set healthy boundaries, practice relaxation and rest, and build resilience through daily activities, meeting basic needs, and supporting others.

Mental Health
This course enhances knowledge and understanding while promoting mental well-being and support within the migrant domestic worker (MDW) community, covering various topics such as the definition of mental health, the distinction between mental health and mental illness, common mental illnesses, addressing stigma, maintaining positive mental health, and knowing when to seek professional help. It emphasizes the importance of open conversations, active listening, kindness, and understanding in destigmatizing mental health issues.
