Arlene's story: Overcoming sadness with communities

Connecting with peer support groups and the community in a number of ways can improve migrant domestic workers’ emotional well-being.

First, to join online support groups. There are many online support groups that cater specifically to the needs of migrant domestic workers. These groups offer a safe space to share experiences, offer support, and build connections with others who are going through similar challenges.

Second, to attend community events. Attending community events can be a great way to meet new people and build connections with others in the community.

Third, volunteer. Volunteering for a local organization or community group can be a great way to meet new people and build connections. It can also be a way to give back to the community and feel a sense of purpose.

It’s important to remember that building connections and finding support can take time, and it’s okay to take things at your own pace. The most important thing is to prioritize your emotional well-being and take steps to care for yourself.
